I was going through my closet the other day trying to find something to wear to dinner.  I need to organize my closet a bit better to separate my work clothes from my casual clothes from my vanilla get-together clothes from my swinger date clothes.  Whew….  That’s a lot to keep track of!  (And that doesn’t count the guest room closet with the lifestyle event costumes, club dresses, etc…)

Now back to my dinner date outfit.  Since it is currently summer, I decided on white skinny jeans, an off the shoulder top, and high heel wedges.  You see, we were meeting new friends about 30 minutes from home.  Not exactly in our home town, but close enough that we could easily run into someone we know.

So where is the line between dressing sexy to impress my husband and our new friends, and still looking “appropriate” in case we run into a family member or vanilla friends or co-workers out on the town?  I used to think that I had to dress super sexy so that our new (or old) lifestyle friends would find me attractive.  I wanted them to know that I made an effort to look my best for them.  But what I’m beginning to realize is that it isn’t the outfit that is going to make me attractive to other people.  It will be the way I interact with them and the way I carry myself (a.k.a. Self-confidence, ladies!)

I know, I’m being vague here about what to wear.  The bottom line is that you need to wear something stylish and flattering.  It doesn’t have to be super tight or super short.  And while we all love how we look in high heels, they may not be the best idea if you will be walking around a downtown area with cobblestone streets or brick sidewalks.  Twisted ankles are not sexy!

Sometimes I wear dresses, and sometimes I wear jeans with a sexy sweater/top.  But I always make sure I’m comfortable because tugging at a super low-cut top or a too short dress takes away from the sexy, fun persona that you are trying to show off to the love of your life and your friends!

P.S.  Guys, wear nice jeans/pants and a button down shirt.  And sorry, but no sneakers!   There, you gentlemen have it so easy….
